new color series inspired by the Matisse painting La Japonaise: Woman beside the Water

I use purified bricks of beeswax to make crayons in my kitchen. the purified beeswax is collected from beekeepers that have placed hives on our property and five other local organic farms. the homemade beeswax crayons are thinly cut and carefully placed, then repeatedly stripped away to create layers of color.

each design is completely unique. wax is water resistant but will melt if placed facing a window where heat reaches above 140 degrees.
